2020 has been a year for the history books, and it isn’t over yet. There is not a time you turn on the news or open your internet and not hear of fires raging, hurricanes threatening, election turmoil, and of course, Covid-19.

We are not exempt from the effects of this virus sweeping through the county and the nation. Suppliers have been slow at getting product out, distribution centers have been closed, even our comics stopped shipping for several months.

Being closed from March 17 – May 26th was quite a blow to our little store. The late winter/early spring is a slow time any year, but this shut down impacted the beginning of tourist season for us. If it hadn’t been for the sale of some personal items and a grant from BINC, we may not have made it through.

With the newest restrictions, businesses are once again having doubts about their futures.

You can be assured, here at OtherWorlds, we are thinking of your safety. We are limiting the number of patrons in the store to 10 at any time. Sanitizer stations are set up at both entrances to the mall and masks are available if you don’t have one. The entire Park Place Mall is keeping clean practices as well. The tables and chairs are wiped down periodically during the day and the soft chairs as well as the air is sprayed with disinfectant. Door handles and frequently touched surfaces are cleaned and disinfected as well. Our customers and friends are very important to us, and we want them to stay healthy.

As a store, we want your shopping experience to be a good one. I am continually adding products to our website and posting newer items on Facebook and Instagram. You can either order from the website and have items delivered or simply indicate you would like to come pick them up. Keep in mind, not even a 10th of our inventory is listed on the website. We offer personal appointments if you wish. This is especially important if, for medical reasons, you cannot wear a mask for any length of time. We also offer curbside and no-contact pick up.

Our customers and friends mean so much to David and I and our small business dream. Together we can finish out 2020 on a good note, and look forward to whatever the next year brings. We are stronger than any virus out there. We are stronger together.

Our comic book company is promoting the industry with the motto: Our Comeback is Bigger than the Setback. I truly believe that it is.
