The world of fiction is as diverse as the people reading it. One of the most asked questions I get is, how do I choose my fiction. That’s a good question. Fantasy and Science fiction are easy because I start with what I know. I choose my favorite authors like Neil Gaiman and China Mieville for fantasy, toss in a bit of Harry Turtledove and J.R.R. Tolkien, Octavia Bultler, Robin Hobb, and James White and that is just a start. I love thrillers so Jeffery Deaver starts that list. You will also find the mysteries of Peter May and the romance of Debbie Macomber. Then I take lists. I don’t rely on just the New York Times bestsellers. I comb reading lists from Reese Witherspoon to Oprah, Bookperks, and many online blogs. Customer recommendations are always welcome. From Atwood, Margaret to Zhang, C. Pam, there is something for everyone.

I have fiction set in Door County and Wisconsin. New in the store are Large Print books. We only have a few in stock, but special orders for any books you don’t see are always welcome.

Local and small, independent writers are a favorite of mine. These may not be on a best seller list, but they are receiving attention. I support these authors because they are, in a sense, a small business in their own right, and small businesses need to support each other. Together we can be small business strong. Some of the local authors include Mary I. Schmal, Tom Davis, Bob McCurdy, and Judy DuCharme just to name a few.
